Most kids have big ideas. They imagine stories, create characters, draw comics, build things, or dream about something they’d like to make. Every once in a while, one of those ideas turns into something much bigger.
For Eshan Gupta, a 7th grader in Fremont, California, an idea he started working on several months ago became his first published book, Secrets After Sunset.
Eshan enjoys mysteries and adventures and decided to try writing one of his own. What started as a simple idea slowly grew into characters, clues, twists, and chapter after chapter.
Getting from an idea to a finished book took more than just writing. Eshan spent months developing the story, rewriting parts that didn’t feel right, refining his characters, and editing. Along the way, he learned that bringing a big idea to life takes patience, persistence, and a willingness to keep improving.
Secrets After Sunset is a mystery for kids and teens that combines suspense and adventure with friendship, teamwork, problem-solving, and meaningful life lessons.
Secrets After Sunset is now available on Amazon: https://a.co/d/0iLPQHIf.
One of the most exciting moments in the journey was finally holding the printed book and seeing his name on the cover, which is a pretty special accomplishment for a young writer!
Eshan’s story is also a great reminder for families to encourage kids to explore the ideas that excite them. Whether it’s writing a story, drawing a comic, coding a game, making music, or building something new, a small idea can become something meaningful when kids are encouraged to give it a try.
And for young creators, Eshan’s journey offers a simple message: start with your idea, stick with it, and see where it takes you.
